Venue & Surroundings
Apaja is more than a venue
Venue & Surroundings
Savutuvan Apaja is a place where history and nature meet to create something truly special. Over 30 historic farmhouse buildings, the last log boats on Lake Päijänne and our own boat M/S Apaja form a setting that is impossible not to fall in love with.
Come and explore — the courtyard tells stories you will not find in any book.
Our entire venue is licensed to serve alcohol.

The Courtyard
Beautiful all year round, unforgettable in every season.
Savutuvan Apaja’s courtyard is a rare place where history feels tangible. Located on the nature-protected island of Haapasaari on Lake Päijänne, over 30 historic farmhouse buildings stand on the site, each transported from different parts of Central Finland, each carrying its own story.
At the heart of the courtyard is our own garden, where herbs and vegetables are grown for our food and drinks. Guests are welcome to pick fresh produce during their visit. A small gesture that says everything about what hospitality means at Apaja.

- Our own garden where guests are welcome to pick fresh herbs and vegetables
- Three sauna buildings and four lakeside jacuzzis on Lake Päijänne
